Example: Dawn Fairy/Fortune Cat/Soultaker x4 + Effect HIT x2 or Seductress x4 + Crit % x2 Position 2/4/6: SPD /Effect HIT/HP or ATK/ATK/Crit DMG Discussion: Komatsu is clearly a control type Shikigami so many of the control/support type Souls work on her. Some examples to cover here: Dawn Fairy – Komatsu’s special attack is multi-hit so she will benefit from Dawn Fairy and push enemies back on their Move Bar. Dawn Fairy also increase DEF so this will increase Komatsu’s survivability. Fortune Cat – Fortune Cat is arguably the best Soul for Komatsu right now due to her high orb consumption. This is especially true if you are not using Zashiki in the team. When Kaguya comes to Global we should be much better with the orb situations. Soultaker – Another excellent Soul not just for Komatsu, but for most supports. Soultaker lets the unit act again immediately, which will shorten status effect duration and skill cooldowns. Acting that often is not without its disadvantages. Orb supply would be an issue with Komatsu team’s high consumption. Often, players would need to bring 3 set of Fortune Cat in the team. Seductress – This is more for PVE set up if you really have to use her. Her special attack is actually quite high at 150% ATK. Even at diminishing ATK, she can probably out damage Ubume or Ootengu at single target boss fights. One note on Senecio here as many players would consider using this Soul due to Komatsu’s Taunt. When Taunted enemies attack Komatsu, she may hide behind a tank and that negates Senecio. Therefore, while Senecio is still a viable option, I feel the three above are better choices. As a control Shikigami in PvP, Komatsu needs what other controls would need. SPD to be fast enough to control enemies as soon as she can. She’s a popular counter to Higanbana. In that case, you would want her to be the first one to act so she can Morph Higanbana to seal the passive before the rest of the team act. A high Effect HIT is very much a requirement here. Komatsu will need to survive for her to make the most impact so HP is also a key. She has a dodging mechanism so HP is not exactly the priority for substats. I would aim for Effect RES for substats in case the enemies have Senecio. The attacking set up is very straightforward. You can very much swap the Ubume/Ootengu Soul on Komatsu. Crit DMG is a good one for her is you have decent Crit % since her special attack has a high multiplier. |

Komatsu Fluid Guide
Komatsu has a decent attack that can potentially be used to farm. The drawback is still her randomness. In addition, she is usually not most players’ choice to make G6. Duel/Raid (3.75/5.0) Komatsu’s main role would be in PvP as a crowd control unit. Her Morph has high initial Effect HIT but is drawn back by the skill’s randomness. Originally established in 1921 in Komatsu City, Japan, to sustain the surrounding community after the closure of a nearby copper mine, Komatsu has spent the past century dedicated to its founding principles of quality first, techology and manufacturing innovation, global reach and people development. Maestro, Komatsu, Samurai X, Zashiki, Lord Arakawa, with Kagura This set up runs a double control set up. Maestro should be the fastest to provide flexibility of which Shikigami you want to act next. It depends on the situation as to who to act next. If you want to try taking out an enemy DPS, Maestro would speed up Kagura, who in turn would speed up Arakawa to attack. This is so that Arakawa can take advantage of Kagura’s attack buff. If the enemy has Higanbana, you may want Komatsu to first seal her passive follow by Samurai X’s AOE taunt to control the fight. If your team is sturdy, you could actually forget about Higanbana for the first two turns since she’ll not too dangerous. Definitely, try to nullify her starting turn 3 onwards since she’ll be very deadly when there are enough attack buffs. A double control set up is the ideal counter for Ame Onna teams since this will seal her passive as well as her special attack. As expected, sealing Ame Onna would nullify the mighty Fire Rain. This team has a high speed in general maybe except for Arakawa. In terms of Soul choice, I would say to include Clam to minimize the risk of getting take out or controlled in the first round. Fortune Cat is always a solid choice since this is a heavy consumption team. As usual, substitute Zashiki with Kaguya upon her release. PvP Komatsu is an option against Higanbana since Morph seals passives. The downside is the randomness of the skill. In the worst of luck, you may only be able to hit Higanbana (or any other Shikigamis you want to control) only with the first hit. A 42% + Effect HIT is not likely to effectively inflict control at the late game. I would use an additional control for more consistent effects. Soul Turning her into a pure DPS actually works in many cases. She’s similar to Futakuchi in a sense. The good thing is that she can just Ubume’s set, which should be accessible to many players. PVE Since Bosses are usually immune to status effects, I would use her as a DPS in PvE. As mentioned above, Komatsu is similar to Futakuchi so she very effective against single Bosses. |
Shikigami Comparison |
Enma – Enma is another strong Shikigami with the ability to Morph. Other than having higher survivability due to her dodging mechanism, Komatsu is inferior to Enma in every way when used as a control unit. Enma is the fastest Shikigami at 127 SPD. Her Morph has a 50% starting Effect HIT compared Komatsu’s 42%. Her Silence is certain compared to Komatsu’s Taunt, which still depends on chance. One may argue that Komatsu’s Morph is potentially AOE, but you’ll really just need to seal that one Shikigami to win. Komatsu is easier to obtain though so you can use her if you don’t have Enma. If you have Enma, there is really no point to use Komatsu. Futakuchi – Futakuchi is our signature random target multi-hit Shikigami. With a maximum of 8 hits, she ties with Susabi as the Shikigamis with the most number of hits. On the other hand, Komatsu can only hit 4 times but at a higher damage each hit. In other words, Komatsu’s damage output is less dependent on Seductress proc. This would mean that with single high HP bosses such as Kraken or Kirin, Futakuchi would be more effective with the high Seductress damage. Komatsu is better for stages with multiple bosses like Sougenbi or Soul 10. She’ll perform better in these stages since her natural skill damage will be more effective if she does not hit the same target consecutively. |

Verdict |
Komatsu is being released together with Higanbana, whom she is supposed to counter by sealing passive. With the ability to Morph Higanbana, Komatsu would be able to perform her job as long as she’s active. With a dodging mechanism, Komatsu has greater survivability than her stat shows. The only thing to worry about is that enemy teams would try to control her, and this needs to be address by Soul and team set up. One thing to note is that Komatsu can dodge Higanbana’s passive attack which adds another advantage to her as a Higanbana counter. Komatsu’s Morph does not seal Soul effects and this means that the team’s attack sequence can be messed up by Senecio and Tree Nymph. As with all control teams, a gap in between controls may give the enemy breathing room to attack. Farming (3.0/5.0) Komatsu has a decent attack that can potentially be used to farm. This can be problematic by accidentally hit a Shikigami with Senecio. Since control units usually have low Effect RES, the chance of being counter controlled by Senecio is high. Nonetheless, she is still an option to counter Higanbana. Boss Battles (3.0/5.0) As mentioned above, Komatsu can be made into a DPS for some boss fights. Though she is not a priority to be made into G6 so there really isn’t a lot of opportunities to use her as DPS. Soul (3.0/5.0) Same story. While she has the attack skills to do damage, I would prefer to use her as control unit so she wouldn’t be a G6. To me, Komatsu is more like a secondary control due to her randomness. She’s not a very reliable control compared to many of the popular CC units. With many options to counter Higanbana, she does not really stand out. If I happen to summon her, I would G5 her to go up against Higanbana but will switch over to Hannya once his available. In the long run, Komatsu is not a popular control unit due to her randomness. |
